All exits to Sprague Avenue from State Route 16 and Interstate 5 in Tacoma will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13.

The closure from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. is the result of maintenance and repair work on the exits and the roadway on Sprague Avenue near the exits. The Washington State Department of Transportation recommends that travelers plan for additional travel time. The city of Tacoma will provide detours indicated by signage.

The maintenance will include cleaning, drainage inspections and the removal of vegetation. The work also coincides with the city of Tacoma’s “pothole palooza,” an effort to showcase the work that the city’s Streets Operation Division does to repair roadways and prevent potholes.

The work will cost a total of roughly $83,000, according to spokespeople from the city of Tacoma and WSDOT.

Drivers can sign up for email updates on the project using WSDOT’s website, or check the agency’s app for real-time updates.
