Driver, 58, dead after large tree falls on vehicle in Pierce County

A 58-year-old Enumclaw woman is dead after a large tree fell and struck her vehicle while she was driving in Pierce County on Tuesday night.

The woman was driving her 2014 Subaru on eastbound state Route 410 west of Crystal River Ranch when a large tree fell and struck her car. Her vehicle continued for about 50-feet before stopping on the right shoulder, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo.

The crash was reported at 7:59 p.m.

The memo said the woman died at the scene. She was the only person in the SUV.

Her name has not been released, pending next of kin notification.

The cause of the crash is listed as weather conditions, according to the memo.

The roadway was blocked for about three hours.
