Northbound Interstate 5 traffic was slowed for five hours Sunday morning after a two-car crash between the Nisqually bridge and DuPont, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 2:15 a.m., two drivers were headed north in the area of Exit 116, or the Mounts Road/Old Nisqually exit.

Troopers say a 36-year-old Everett woman, suspected of driving under the influence, crashed into the rear of an SUV.

That vehicle wound up on its top in a right-side ditch, while she came to a stop in a left-side ditch, according to State Patrol.

The passenger in the SUV, a 23-year-old man from Hawaii, was injured and taken to Madigan Army Medical Center at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The driver was not injured, according to State Patrol.

The Everett woman also was not hurt, but she was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault, said State Patrol in a social media post.

Traffic in the area was slowed for five hours and 24 minutes, according to State Patrol.
