State Patrol: Puyallup man hospitalized after brick thrown at car in Tacoma

A 64-year-old Puyallup man was taken to an area trauma center Saturday night after a brick was thrown at his passing vehicle near downtown Tacoma, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Trooper Kameron Watts said via social media that the man, a passenger in the vehicle, was hit in the head.

About 10:10 p.m., the Puyallup man was headed south on Interstate 705 at state Route 509, a location near downtown Tacoma, according to the State Patrol.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old Vancouver, Washington, man is accused of throwing the brick from the right shoulder of the road. The 63-year-old Puyallup woman driving the car was not injured, according to State Patrol.

The Puyallup man was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The Vancouver man is facing three criminal charges: second-degree assault, third-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief, according to State Patrol.
