Dead body found next to Tacoma railroad tracks, cause of death murky

Police are investigating a dead body found Wednesday next to train tracks near the 7800 block of South Tacoma Way, according to a Tacoma Police Department spokesperson.

A train company reported the body to authorities just before noon Wednesday. Upon arrival, the cause of death was not immediately clear. Police have not determined if a train-pedestrian collision was involved.

Authorities did not provide the victim’s identity, age or gender.
