There is no ETA to reopen this section of state Route 167, WSDOT says. Here’s why
A section of state Route 167 in south King County remains fully closed Sunday morning because of water over the road, the state Department of Transportation announced on social media.
The section that’s closed: South 212th Street to 15th Street Northwest in Kent and Auburn, according to WSDOT.
Multiple traffic ramps in the area are closed.
WSDOT officials say they are coordinating closely with local partners to reopen the highway, but there currently is no estimated time for that to happen, according to the social media post.
Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes.
There’s water over the road because of recent widespread flooding in the region that was triggered by a series of atmospheric rivers that swept through Western Washington last week.
As much as 17 inches of rain fell in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
More rain is in the forecast. The region is again under a flood watch for 10 a.m. Monday through 4 p.m. Thursday, according to NWS.
