A woman died Wednesday morning after a fire broke out in a manufactured home in Spanaway, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue. The cause of the blaze is being investigated.

Fire crews responded just after 11 a.m. to the 15500 block of 22nd Avenue East. Central Pierce Fire said firefighters entered the home and found an older woman who had succumbed to injuries from the fire.

The Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

The Spanaway fire was the second house fire Central Pierce Fire was called out to Wednesday morning. The first was reported in Puyallup shortly after 10 a.m. in the 1800 block of Tartan Court.

The fire started from a generator that was running under an outdoor wooden structure that spread to the house, according to Central Pierce Fire. No injuries were reported, and the people in the home were connected with the Red Cross.
