One dead after evening house fire in Lakewood, says West Pierce Fire

One person died Thursday evening at a house fire in Lakewood, according to a social media post from West Pierce Fire and Rescue.

The initial response came at 7:05 p.m. Fire crews responded to a home near the intersection of 115th Street Southwest and Military Road Southwest, according to the post.

Two people were inside. Firefighters rescued both.

“Unfortunately, one person was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the post said.

No further details about the identities of the victims were provided. The second victim was transported to a local hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
