Grocery stores across Tacoma will be open on Christmas Eve, although several will be closing early ahead of the Christmas holiday.
Here’s when local grocery stores will close on Wednesday for Christmas Eve, according to their websites or employees:
- Fred Meyer: 6 p.m.
- Grocery Outlet: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. depending on the location
- Metropolitan Market: 6 p.m.
- Safeway: 7 p.m.
- Tacoma Boys: 3 or 4 p.m. depending on the location
- WinCo: 5:30 p.m.
Which grocery stores are open on Christmas Day?
If you find yourself in need of groceries on Christmas Day, you can head to at least one grocery store chain with multiple locations in Tacoma.
Several Safeway locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 25, including stores on Proctor Street, North Pearl Street, M Street, South 38th Street, South 56th Street and 72nd Street East.

Most grocery store pharmacies, including Safeway pharmacies, will also be closed.
