Trupanion, a pet insurance company, ranked and sorted the top pet names of 2025. The company made its predictions for 2026 and then categorized them by state.

How did Trupanion make the list?

So, how did Trupanion create this list, and how did “Luna” end up at the top of nearly every category?

Trupanion took the names of the over 130,000 kitties and pups registered for their insurance and created the list.

“Luna led in every category but other “L” names like Leo, Lucie, Loki and Lola were also incredibly popular,” Trupanion said. “In all, more than 12,000 different names were submitted to Trupanion over the last 12 months.”
