Fire destroys storage-facility building in University Place

Fire destroyed a storage-facility building in University Place on Friday.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue reported the blaze in the 2400 block of 70th Avenue West on X about 4 a.m.

Firefighters closed 70th Avenue and 24th Street nearby while they battled the flames, which were under control by about 6 a.m.

No one was injured, but the building was declared a total loss, according to the X post. The cause is under investigation.

Nearby streets were reopened about 7:35 a.m.
