One dead, one hospitalized after vehicle crash in Tacoma, police say

One person is dead and another hospitalized after the vehicle they were in hit a utility pole on the Tideflats on Wednesday, Tacoma police spokesperson Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

The crash was reported at 6:42 p.m. at Portland Avenue East and St. Paul Avenue.

One of the people in the car was sent to the hospital and is in unknown condition, Boyd said. The other person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Portland Avenue is closed between Lincoln Avenue and St Paul Avenue as authorities investigate.
