South Hill-area auto salvage yard engulfed in heavy fire over the weekend

An auto salvage yard was engulfed in flames Sunday night in the South Hill area.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 6300 block of 128th Street East for the fire, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue on X.

A building and multiple vehicles were burning, the post said.

“Firefighters quickly began suppression efforts, and an engine remained on scene overnight to monitor for possible reignition,” according to the post.

No injuries were reported.

“A total of 13 units responded, including 6 fire suppression units, 3 EMS units, and 4 command/support units,” the post said.
