Early morning earthquake reported in the Key Peninsula area

An earthquake hit the Key Peninsula area early Wednesday morning.

Locals in the area might have felt the 2.9-magnitude earthquake at about 3:49 a.m. It was reportedly hit in the area between Herron and Lakebay, according the United States Geological Survey.

The depth of the earthquake was recorded as 27.3 kilometers. Earlier reports said the earthquake was 3.1-magnitude before it was downgraded.
