The Tacoma Fire Department rescued a person from a car dangling off a concrete ledge after they drove off the road, Public Information Officer Chelsea Shepherd told The News Tribune.

At 11:56 a.m., the technical rescue team responded to reports of a vehicle that veered off of South C Street into a chain link fence and was hanging over a high embankment, Shepherd said.

The fence kept the car from falling into the parking lot on Commerce Street about 20 feet below.

TFD technical rescue crews were able to secure the car and safely remove the person from the vehicle, Shepherd said.

The person was not transported to the hospital and the Tacoma Police Department is investigating the incident.
