Motorcyclist killed in overnight wreck in south Pierce County, State Patrol says

A 36-year-old motorcyclist was killed overnight Sunday after he crashed into a car in south Pierce County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The man, who has yet to be identified, died at the scene of the wreck. The other driver, a 20-year-old Yelm man, was injured and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

About 1:15 a.m., the motorcyclist was riding south on state Route 7 – south of Spanaway – approaching 240th Street East. Meanwhile, the Yelm man was facing south in the center turn lane.

Troopers say the Yelm man began to make a u-turn and the motorcyclist crashed into him. Both vehicles came to a stop in the intersection of SR7 and 240th Street East.

Following the crash, the road was blocked for about four hours, according to the State Patrol.
