Firefighters rescue Puyallup residents from roof after early morning house fire

A fire in a Puyallup home left three people displaced Monday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched around 8:12 a.m. to the 9500 block of 62nd Avenue Court East after someone in the house reported the incident. Crews arrived to black smoke in the house, Central Pierce Fire & Rescue spokesperson Brianna Stenstrom told The News Tribune.

Stenstrom said two people escaped to the first floor roof and firefighters rescued them using a ladder. A third person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The fire was isolated to the kitchen, she said. Crews put the flames out and are doing ventilation. They will stay to monitor hot spots and mop up.

The residents of the house are displaced due to smoke damage, Stenstrom said. The Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
