Pierce County Sheriff’s Office investigating homicide in Summit area

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning.

According to a social media post from the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a person being shot at around 4:19 a.m. on April 12 in the 12200 block of Canyon Road East, near the Summit View neighborhood.

A 37-year-old male was located with gunshot wounds, according to the post. Medical aid was rendered, but the male passed away.

Detective Joshua Mills with the Sheriff’s Office told The News Tribune that there is no suspect in custody at this time. He said detectives were wrapping up on the scene around 1 p.m. Sunday, and they will be compiling evidence to develop leads. He said it was a contained incident and there’s no danger to the public.
