A Tacoma man, along with two other victims, died in a Snohomish County car crash on State Route 2 early Saturday morning, the Washington State Patrol shared in a press memo.

At about 12:18 a.m., 26-year-old Jose D. Hernandezibanez from Tacoma was driving a 2015 Cadillac SRX with a 28-year-old passenger westbound on State Route 2, the memo said.

Hernandezibanez attempted to pass an uninvolved vehicle by driving in the eastbound lane, causing the vehicle to crash into a 2004 Dodge Dakota traveling eastbound. He died at the scene. The passenger was transported to an area hospital

Both passengers of the Dakota, a 33-year-old female and 33-year-old male from Gold Bar, died at the scene.

It’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved, the press memo said.
