1 killed, another in critical condition from vehicle crash in Tacoma

One person is dead after a crash in Tacoma early Tuesday morning.

Officers were dispatched around 12:25 a.m. at 72nd Street East and Portland Avenue. A vehicle traveling at a high speed struck a power pole, Tacoma Police Department spokesperson officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune via email.

One person died at the scene. Another person was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Boyd said details on where the victims were in the vehicle is under investigation.

“It was a pretty bad scene,” she wrote, adding it appears there was fire at the crash.
