Afternoon house fire in Titlow extinguished, homeowner uninjured

An mid-afternoon residential fire in Titlow sparked a large response from the Tacoma Fire Department on Tuesday.

Authorities received a call around 3 p.m. for a fire in the 8400 block of South 19th Street, Tacoma Police Department spokesperson fficer Shelbie Boyd said.

Firefighters arrived to find the homeowner and a neighbor outside the house attempting to put out the flames with extinguishers, TFD battalion chief Ryan Anderson told The News Tribune.

The homeowner was the only one in the house when the fire began, Anderson said.

Tacoma Fire extinguished the fire, which mostly took place in the back of the house, Anderson said.

Authorities are investigating to determine how the fire started. No one was injured.
