Pedestrian hit and killed on Pacific Avenue in Pierce County identified, WSP says

A 49-year-old man who was hit and killed on Pacific Avenue early Saturday morning has been identified, according to updated information released by the Washington State Patrol.

That stretch of road is also known as state Route 7.

About 3:50 a.m. Saturday, troopers say Charles Hilyard of Puyallup was walking in “lane two of two” on SR 7 at 104th Street when he was hit by a northbound driver.

That driver, a 63-year-old Spanaway woman, was not injured, according to the State Patrol.

The crash remains under investigation.

The road was blocked for more than three hours following the collision.
