Cafe that served Vietnamese coffee, tea, desserts has closed in downtown Tacoma

A tea and dessert shop that opened in August in downtown Tacoma is now closed.

Eather Tea & Cafe operated at 1127 Broadway, Suite 101, right next to Tacoma Dance Studios and Tacoma School of the Arts theater.

Eather Tea and Cafe closed after just four months in business, after the owner experienced a loss in the family.

The shop closed at the end of December, according to owner Ky Luu. He told The News Tribune that his father passed away at that time, so Luu decided to go back to Vietnam to be with his family.

Eather Tea & Cafe served Vietnamese coffee and fruit and milk teas, with options to add toppings like boba and mochi. The menu included dessert waffles with Nutella and fruit.

The sign is still up outside the storefront, but the inside is filled with empty chairs, with sheets hung in the windows.

Several businesses have previously inhabited that space on Broadway, including the Infinitea Cafe and True North Coffee House.

Buddy’s Chicken and Waffles also leased the space a few years ago, but issues with installing fryers led the owner to find a new business space in the Lincoln District.
