Nearly 40 labor unions and community organizations will take to Tacoma’s streets Friday as part of a May Day rally recognizing workers’ and migrants’ rights.

Starting at 4 p.m. at the Theater Plaza downtown, protestors will march to the Northwest ICE Processing Center, the Pierce County Immigration Alliance announced in a news release.

Organizations involved include Tacoma DSA, Teamsters 117, International Migrants Alliance, Climate Alliance of the South Sound, Pierce County Immigration Alliance and more.

“Despite the ongoing outcry of the people of Tacoma and beyond, the City of Tacoma has refrained from taking any meaningful action to defend migrants’ rights against the Trump Administrations attacks,” the release said.
