Hundreds lose power after tree crashes into lines in Graham

Puget Sound Energy

Hundreds are without power after a tree crashed into some power lines in Graham.

Tim Susee, spokesperson for Central Pierce Fire & Rescue, told The News Tribune the crash happened at about 9:33 a.m at the intersection of 304th St E and Meridian E.

Puget Sound Energy’s outage map says there are about 1,336 customers impacted in the Graham and Clear Lake areas. The cause is listed as “under investigation” with an estimated restoration time of 12:30 p.m.

“Even with the rain, it’s really more of an electrical issue, so the power company’s been contacted to isolate the power so they can remove the tree from the lines,” Susee said. “It shouldn’t be terribly problematic for any passersby or anything, because as soon as the electricity gets shut off, we will be able to remove the trees.”

Susee said the power company will close off one lane in the area, but “it should be pretty quick.”

The News Tribune reached out to the Puget Sound Energy and did not receive an immediate response.
