This Pierce County kitten picked a bad hiding spot — then firefighters arrived

A firefighter rescued a kitten from the undercarriage of a car in Gig Harbor on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a Facebook post from Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One, it started when a kitten ran into traffic, then sought shelter inside a vehicle’s rear suspension.

Patrick Phillips, spokesperson for Gig Harbor Fire and Medic One, told The News Tribune the incident happened at 12:24 p.m. at the intersection of Olympic Drive and Point Fosdick Drive.

“Thankfully, other drivers witnessed it happen and were able to alert the driver before they drove away,” the post said. “Engine 52 responded to the public service call and, with assistance from Gig Harbor Police Department, safely got the vehicle to Eagle Tire where staff were more than happy to help.”

Once they were able to get the vehicle on a lift, firefighter Daniel Hansen searched inside the car and rescued the kitten, the post said.

“Thankfully, the kitten was unharmed and may have even found its forever home with the driver,” the post said.
