Olympia motorcyclist crashes into elk in East Pierce Co., WA State Patrol says

An Olympia motorcyclist crashed into an elk in east Pierce County Monday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

About 10 p.m., the 59-year-old rider was headed west on state Route 162, between Crocker and Orting, when he struck the animal.

The Olympia man was injured and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup for his injuries. He was wearing a helmet, according to the State Patrol.

The road was blocked for 40 minutes after the collision, troopers say.
