Gas leak prompts evacuations in East Pierce County
Update: Gerald Tracy, spokesperson for Puget Sound Energy, told The News Tribune the gas leak lifted at about 11:08 a.m.
“What we can tell so far is a third party, non-PSE worker, hit the residential gas line which caused a leak. They were doing some work out there,” Tracy said.
Tracy said the gas has been shut off to the unit and potentially one other one while crews assess the damage.
There is no danger to the public, Tracy said.
