Crews have put out a fire in a Tacoma.

Chelsea Shepherd, spokesperson for Tacoma Fire, told The News Tribune the department got a call for a fire at 9:59 a.m. in the 3300 block of North Gove St.

“We responded because a neighbor reported smoke coming from a shop building. There was lots of smoke. It was a 100-square-foot detached shop,” Shepherd said.

Crews fought the fire and got it under control within 20 minutes, Shepherd said. They are still on scene putting out hot spots.

There were no injuries or deaths, Shepherd said.

Shepherd said the cause is under investigation, but TFD suspects it happened because of an electrical failure.

The News Tribune asked if the building is salvageable and if the residents have been displaced, and Shepherd said she would provide updates once she received that information.
