Crews put out structure fire near Puyallup
Crews put out a structure fire in the South Hill area Saturday evening.
According to a post on X from Central Pierce Fire & Rescue, the fire happened in the 14100 block of Meridian Avenue East.
Crews saw “a large column of smoke” when they went on scene, the post said, and they found a detached outbuilding “fully involved in fire.
“Crews utilized a defensive strategy, attacking the fire from the exterior with handlines and aerial master streams,” the post said. “The outbuilding was destroyed, but the fire was contained and extinguished without any reported injuries.”
There were 13 units that responded, the post said, including six fire suppression, three emergency medical services and four “command/support units.”
“The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Pierce County Fire Marshal’s Office,” the post said.
