Man dies after crashing into camper trailer in Pierce County

A 63-year-old man is dead after crashing into a camper trailer.

According to a news release from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at 4 a.m. on June 13. The man was driving a small pickup while towing a fishing boat and allegedly suffered a medical emergency while on his way to go fishing.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner Office’s public portal identifies the man as Brian Ostheimer from Spanaway.

PCSO said Ostheimer’s truck left the roadway in the 7800 block of 198th Street East and crashed into a camper trailer on a nearby property.

“A single occupant was living in the camper trailer at the time of the collision, and that person sustained minor injuries,” the release said.

Ostheimer was declared dead at the scene, the release said.

In the public portal, the ME has Ostheimer’s cause of death listed as “pending.”
