Power restored after mass outage on Key Peninsula

Update, 3:17 p.m.: Downed electrical lines caused a small brush fire near the Wright Bliss fire station, the Key Peninsula Fire Department posted on Facebook at 2:20 p.m. Key Peninsula Fire spokesperson Anne Nesbit confirmed in a text message around 3:15 p.m. that the fire is out.

Peninsula Light Co. posted on X at 2:30 p.m. that the outage was caused by a “communication line issue impacting (a) power line.”

Update, 2:46 p.m.: Power has been restored, according to a Facebook post from Peninsula Light Company.

Original post: Hundreds are without power on the Key Peninsula.

According to the Peninsula Light Company’s outage map, about 600 customers are without power in an area by Rocky Bay.

The outage started at about 1:45 p.m., according to the outage map.

The News Tribune has reached out to the Peninsula Light Company to ask about the cause.
