The News Tribune introduces 2026 summer reporting intern Elizah Lourdes Rendorio
Hello! My name is Elizah Lourdes Rendorio, and I am one of The News Tribune’s reporting interns this summer. I grew up just north of here in Shoreline, and recently graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in journalism and public interest communications. I’m thrilled to be starting my journalism career near home, and I’m very excited to tell stories that inform and inspire.
I spent the majority of time at university reporting on city and state politics for local outlets across the Pacific Northwest. I began my career at The Daily, the student newspaper, where I published my first stories, covering on-campus events and labor contract negotiations. I also served as the assistant news editor my last quarter, routinely editing, pitching, and guiding the production of stories.
I interned at The Columbia Basin Herald for the past two years, covering the Washington state legislative session. I reported on a wide-range of legislation, including agriculture policies, data center regulations and labor laws.
Last fall, I interned for Converge Media, where I covered city government and community issues within Seattle’s Central District. I discovered my love for local community-driven storytelling. I’m eager to tell stories that hold power to account while also highlighting underrepresented voices.
I’m grateful to be reporting for The News Tribune this summer in Tacoma and the greater Pierce County area. I’m constantly looking for opportunities to connect the dots, tell stories and engage with the diverse communities that make up the region.
