Pedestrian dead after being hit by car in Tacoma

A pedestrian is dead after a vehicle collision in Tacoma on Monday afternoon.

In a Tuesday email to The News Tribune, Shelbie Boyd — spokesperson for the Tacoma Police Department — said the incident happened at 5:28 p.m. at 400 South Tacoma Way.

A motorist struck the pedestrian, Boyd wrote, who was found dead at the scene.

The motorist stayed on the scene, Boyd wrote, and was not arrested.
