Road closures, parking restrictions along Ruston Way waterfront for July 4

Drivers should expect parking restrictions and road closures along parts of Ruston Way this July 4 weekend.

Gated parking lots at Dune Peninsula, Cummings Park, Les Davis Park and Jack Tanner Park will be closed on July 3 for the set-up for Summer Blast, Parks Tacoma and the city of Tacoma’s annual Fourth of July celebration. On July 4 from 7 a.m. to midnight, Ruston Way between Alder Street and North 49th Street will be closed, according to a release from Parks Tacoma.

During the same time, Yacht Club Road between Ruston Way and Grand Loop, and North Baltimore Street between Ruston Way and North 49th Street will also be closed, the release states.

“Heavy traffic and delays around these closures are expected, so please plan accordingly,” the release states.

On the day of Summer Blast, parking will be available at Point Ruston and in parking lots near Katie Downs Waterfront Tavern and Duke’s Seafood.

Summer Blast this year will feature a fireworks show, beer gardens, live music at Dune Peninsula and an array of food and artisan vendors. Visit parkstacoma.gov/event/summerblast to learn more.
