From parades to pie, here’s where to celebrate the 4th of July around Pierce Co.
America’s birthday is nearly here, and nearly every community in Pierce County is going all out to celebrate, whether that be on July 3 or July 4. That might be because this year marks the 250th anniversary of the USA.
Whether you’re looking for a parade, a pie-eating contest or a good old-fashioned fireworks show, there’s something for you.
Tacoma Summer Blast
- July 4, noon to 10:30 p.m.
- Ruston Way and Dune Peninsula, 5361 Yacht Club Road, Tacoma
Parks Tacoma will host the annual Fourth of July celebration on the waterfront with vendors, food, live music and of course, fireworks. Expect over 150 vendors across Dune Peninsula and Cummings Park, selling everything from ice cream to artisan goods, plus live music performances at Dune Peninsula throughout the day. The fireworks show will start around 10 p.m., and can be seen from Dune Peninsula, Ruston Way and Jack Hyde Park, according to Parks Tacoma.
Fireworks Extravaganza at Cheney Stadium
- July 3 and 4, 7:05 to 10:05 p.m.
- Cheney Stadium, 2502 S. Tyler St., Tacoma
The Rainiers are going all in for the Fourth of July, hosting Fireworks shows for two nights. This is the first time in 30 years that the Rainiers have played Independence Day baseball at Cheney Stadium, according to Rainiers website. The team will face the Reno Aces both nights. Tickets to the games are available online.
DuPont Hometown Celebration
- July 4, 8 a.m. to dusk

The city of DuPont will kick off the Fourth of July with a community pancake breakfast at Clocktower Park. The breakfast ($9 for adults, $6 for kids) benefits the DuPont Historical Society and will run from 8 to 11 a.m. The parade starts at 10 a.m., and then Clocktower Park will be filled with vendors, food and games from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. A free movie night at the DuPont Fire Station Fire Bay begins at 7:30 p.m, and then the fireworks show starts at dusk at DuPont City Hall.
Red, White & Kaboom in Puyallup
- July 3, 2 to 10 p.m.
- Gold & Teal Lots, Washington State Fair, 110 9th Ave. SW, Puyallup
Puyallup will celebrate the Fourth a day early, with a series of festivities and fireworks to end the night. Expect food trucks, vendors, live bands, a beer garden and a kids zone. A Fourth of July fun run also starts at 6:30 p.m. — registration is closed, but you can still cheer on runners. Fairground access for the day is $35 per car to get in. You could stay in your car or settle onto the lawn to watch the fireworks show, which will run from 10 to 10:30 p.m.
Gig Harbor Celebrates America 250
- July 4, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Downtown Gig Harbor and Skansie Brothers Park, 3211 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor
Gig Harbor is hosting a parade, a pie-eating contest and other festivities for the Fourth of July. The kid and pet parade runs from 10 to 10:30 a.m., starting at Judson Street and Soundview Drive and traveling up Soundview and Harborview drives before ending at Skansie Brothers Park. Children, families and pets are encouraged to decorate wagons, bikes and strollers. After the parade, Skansie Brothers Park will host live music, food, a pie eating contest and a pie baking competition, plus a kids corner.
Grand Old Fourth of July Celebration in Steilacoom
- July 4, 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Lots going on in Steilacoom this Fourth of July. The day kicks off with a fun run starting at Steilacoom Town Hall at 9 a.m. Nearby on Lafayette Street, the street fair also opens at 9 a.m.with food and craft vendors and live music. The parade starts at 1 p.m. at Rainier and Lafayette streets. Later in the night, a family street dance begins at 7 p.m., and to end the night, a fireworks show at around 10:30 p.m.
Eatonville Independence Day Celebration
- July 3 at 5:30 p.m., July 4 at noon
- Multiple locations
Eatonville will kick off America’s Birthday a day early on July 3, featuring food trucks, bouncy houses and live performances. Festivities start at 5:30 p.m. in the field behind Eatonville Elementary and Eatonville Middle schools. The fireworks show begins at dusk. The next day, the Fourth of July parade will begin at noon along Mashell Avenue North.
Orting 4th of July Festival
- July 4, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Orting North Park, 101 Washington Ave NW, and Main City Park, 101-102 Train St. SW
Orting will host a variety of food and craft vendors at Orting North Park and Main City Park this Fourth of July. Also expect live music, a kids zone and carnival games. At the south end of Main City Park, car enthusiasts can also participate in a cruise-in car show.
Edgewood Celebrates America’s 250th
- July 3, 7 to 10 p.m.
- Edgewood Community Park, 10301 36th St. E., Edgewood
This event marks Edgewood’s first ever city-sponsored fireworks show. Fireworks will cap off the night at 10 p.m., and last about 10 to 15 minutes. Before that, attendees can also expect food trucks, live music, face painting and other family-friendly activities.
