Two arrested for murder in connection to Tacoma missing-person case
Two people have been booked in the Pierce County Jail for suspicion of first-degree murder.
Charles Porche, spokesperson for the Lakewood Police Department, told The News Tribune it started with an investigation from the Tacoma Police Department.
On June 30, Porche said, TPD found a man who allegedly used the credit card of someone who had been reported missing in Tacoma. Officers interviewed the man, who allegedly told them the credit card’s owner is dead and gave them the name of a woman “most likely responsible for his death.”
The man then allegedly took officers to a location in Lakewood where a body was found. Officers with the Lakewood Police Department set up surveillance on the woman’s residence and arrested her, booking her into jail shortly after midnight on July 1, Porche said.
The News Tribune does not generally name criminal suspects until they have been formally charged.
Both suspects were booked on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to jail records, while the man is also being investigated for second-degree identity theft.
Porche said the Pierce County Medical Examiner has not yet identified the remains found in Lakewood.
The investigation is ongoing, Porche said.
