Watch: Loose goat dodges traffic, sparks 20-minute foot chase in Pierce County
A police pursuit through Parkland didn’t involve a getaway car — just quick hooves, a stubborn attitude, and deputies trying to keep up on foot.
According to a Wednesday email from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call at about 4:30 p.m. on June 29 of a goat weaving in and out of traffic in the area of 122nd Street South and Park Avenue South, near Pacific Lutheran University.
“One deputy even attempted to communicate with the runaway by speaking what he believed was ‘goat language,’” the email said. “Unfortunately, the goat wasn’t impressed.”
Deputies and animal control chased the goat for 20 minutes, the email said, before cornering “the four-legged escape artist” and taking the goat into custody.
“The adventurous goat was transported to a local rescue farm, where it will be cared for while Animal Control works to locate its owner,” the email said. “Thankfully this pursuit ended with plenty of laughs, a safe capture, and a couple tired deputies.”
