One dead after crash in Lakewood

A man is dead after striking a power pole in Lakewood.

Charles Porche, spokesperson for the Lakewood Police Department, told The News Tribune on Wednesday the man was speeding southbound in the 9200 block of Lakeview Drive on Monday when he lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway and struck a power pole. He was found dead at the scene.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner Office’s public portal identifies the man as 21-year-old Deakon Hanner. The incident happened at about 3:51 p.m., according to the ME.

Hanner’s cause of death is listed as multiple blunt-force injuries.
