A motorcyclist and a pedestrian are dead after two separate collisions in Tacoma Friday night, according to the Tacoma Police Department.

The first crash occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Tacoma Mall Boulevard and South 66th Street, public information officer Shelbie Boyd told The News Tribune.

A vehicle turning from South 66th Street collided with a motorcyclist traveling southbound, Boyd said.

Emergency services transported the motorcycle rider to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

About two hours later at 10:23 p.m., a separate vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred at East 72nd Street and East L Street, Boyd said.

A pedestrian crossing East 72nd Street was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound. According to the vehicle occupants, the pedestrian suddenly entered the roadway.

The pedestrian later died at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was evaluated and showed no signs of impairment, Boyd said.

There was a third fatal collision — this one near Lakewood — early Saturday morning. Two people died after being ejected from their vehicle during a chase with law enforcement.
