Man, 20, falls to his death at Lake Tapps, Pierce Co. Sheriff’s Department says
A 20-year-old man has died after he fell from his skateboard while riding it on one of the islands at Lake Tapps, a spokeswoman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said Sunday.
A little after midnight Saturday, deputies were dispatched to a death investigation in the 20600 block of Island Parkway, said Detective Courteney Bealko.
The man’s death was not water-related, she said.
Instead, he had fallen from a skateboard. He was not wearing a helmet, Bealko said.
She said the area fire department — East Pierce Fire & Rescue — was first on scene, followed by the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
The man was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival, Bealko said.
