Unused prescription drugs to be collected Saturday
South Sound residents can drop off unused or unwanted prescription drugs Saturday as part of a Drug Enforcement Administration initiative.
Thirteen locations in Pierce County will have bins set out so people can anonymously discard the medication between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The drugs will later be destroyed.
Illegal drugs, syringes, insulin and medical waste are not accepted.
The National Drug Take-Back initiative kicked off six years ago.

▪ Tacoma police substations: 1524 Martin Luther King Jr. Way; 5140 N. 26th St.; 1501 S. 72nd St.; 400 E. 56th St.
▪ Lakewood Police Department, 9401 Lakewood Drive SW.
▪ Puyallup Tribal Police administration office, 3009 Portland Ave., Tacoma.
▪ University Place Police Department, 3609 Market Place W., Suite 201.
▪ Pierce County sheriff’s Parkland/Spanaway precinct, 495 Shandon Wright Way S.
▪ Pierce County sheriff’s South Hill precinct, 271 John Bananola Way.
▪ Puyallup Police Department, 311 W. Pioneer.
▪ Gig Harbor Civic Center’s lobby, 3510 Grandview St.
▪ Steilacoom Police Department, 601 Main St.
▪ Joint Base Lewis-McChord Base Exchange parking lot, McChord Field, Building 504.
