Old Spaghetti Factory trolley on the move this weekend in downtown Tacoma
The Old Spaghetti Factory will start moving the trolley to its new location this weekend.
The trolley has been a fixture of the restaurant since it opened at 1735 Jefferson Ave. in 1971. The restaurant announced at the end of July that it would move to 1250 Pacific Ave. The University of Washington Tacoma owns the Jefferson Avenue building, and the school is planning a major renovation for more classroom space among other things.
Portland-based OSF International, the restaurant’s owner, has said the new location will open sometime between the end of the year and the first quarter of 2016.
On Friday, after the restaurant closes, workers will begin preparing the trolley for its move, OSF spokesman Ryan Durrett said. On Saturday, work will begin in the early morning to remove the trolley. The front windows of the restaurant will have to be removed, Durrett said. The goal is to have the trolley out of the Jefferson Avenue space by 11 a.m.
Once the trolley is out, it will be stored overnight on the UWT campus. On Sunday, around 8 a.m., workers will begin moving it to its new location on Pacific Avenue.
People are welcome to come watch either day, Durrett said.
