A woman died Monday when a car and a semitrailer truck crashed in Tacoma, Tacoma police said.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Eiko Warren, 87 of Tacoma.

She was a passenger in the car. The car’s driver, a man in his 80s, was taken to Saint Joseph Medical Center in critical condition, according to police and Tacoma Fire.

The wreck happened about 1:30 p.m. near East Portland Avenue and Puyallup Avenue, when the car turned left directly in front of the semi, which was headed north on Portland, police spokesperson Loretta Cool said.

Cool said the semi driver, in his late 30s, was not suspected of any wrongdoing.

Traffic was detoured around the scene.
