A Tacoma man who died while free diving near Neah Bay has been identified as 24-year-old Marcus Eldred, the Peninsula Daily News reported.
Eldred was spear fishing with two friends Sunday when he went missing. The group was not using scuba gear.
One of the divers called the Coast Guard and they began a search. Divers found Eldred’s body caught in the kelp in about 25 feet of water. The diver cut him free and he was picked up by a rescue boat.
Eldred was pronounced dead at the Neah Bay Health Clinic.
