A man was hit and injured Friday by an Amtrak train in Tacoma.

The accident happened about 8:20 a.m. in the 2300 block of East Q Street on BNSF Railway property.

It was unclear why the man was on the tracks. BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said the man was trespassing.

The man was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center. His condition could not be determined.
