Parking lot reopens at Chambers Creek North Meadow
The North Meadow parking area at Chambers Creek Regional Park reopened over the weekend, following an expansion project that more than doubled the number of parking spaces at the busy park entrance.
Roughly 50 spaces were added to a new parking area in the North Meadow portion of the park. There previously were 39 spaces. The parking lot is closest to the Playground by the Sound, one of the largest playgrounds in the community. It also serves as primary access for the Grandview and Soundview walking trails.
Chambers Creek Regional Park, located adjacent to Grandview Drive West in University Place, is part of the 930-acre, Pierce County-owned Chambers Creek Properties.
The project also widened the entrance and exit driveways on Grandview Drive West, connected the old parking lot to the new parking area and widened the paved pedestrian path adjacent to the new parking lot.
Work on the project began in February, then stopped from early April through July for set-up and dismantling of the U.S. Open golf tournament, before resuming in August.
Funding for the approximately $1.2 million project came from Pierce County Public Works. For more information about the project, go online to www.piercecountywa.org/NMparking.
