Pregnant woman dies in Key Peninsula wreck

A pregnant Longbranch woman died Sunday after her car hit a utility pole on the Key Peninsula.

Amanda Hamlin, 23 died at a hospital after the accident, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday.

The wreck happened about 2 p.m. in the 2900 block of Key Peninsula Highway.

Hamlin was driving south on the highway when she lost control of her car coming out of a curve after she’d passed other vehicles, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

He said Hamlin was pregnant, but he didn’t know how far along she was. He said the fetus did not survive.

Investigators said she was wearing her seat belt.
