Four-vehicle crash in Federal Way causes backups on I-5
A four-vehicle crash in Federal Way caused major backups on Interstate 5 early Friday.
The wreck might have been caused by street racing, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Three lanes of northbound I-5 were shut down for more than an hour at about 4 a.m. while troopers investigated.
Two drivers suffered minor injuries. The other two drivers, who were possibly racing, left the scene.
Troopers were looking for whomever was behind the wheel of a black Dodge Charger that fled after the collision. Another driver left a vehicle in the wreckage and fled on foot.
Two of the cars appeared to be racing when one clipped a pickup truck, which spun out of control and was hit head-on by the other speeding car.
Traffic backed up more than three miles after the freeway was blocked off.
