Open-air ice skating
Start out your holiday season by hitting the ice at the Franciscan Polar Plaza in Tollefson Plaza in downtown Tacoma. In its fifth season, the open-air ice skating rink will be open through Jan. 10 and will feature special events throughout its run. Food trucks will be on had, and this weekend’s special events is country music by the band DoveLand at 7 p.m. Saturday and the Ultimate Fan Social Media Challenge on Sunday. Stunt dog show at Pantages
Make the start of the holiday season a day with the dogs at the Chris Perondi’s Stunt Dog Experience shows at the Pantages Theater, 901 Broadway, Tacoma on Saturday. The show is all about amazing tricks, air stunts, dancing dogs and athletic feats. Come to the early show at 2:30 p.m. or come after the tree lighting ceremony for the 7:30 p.m. show. Comedy with Rutledge
Get in a laugh when Gabriel Rutledge comes to the Tacoma Comedy Club, 933 Market St., Tacoma. Showtimes are 8 and 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $16, go to tacomacomedyclub.com.
Fundraiser at Joeseppi’s
Come out for a pasta buffer fundraiser for Danielle (Dani) Martin, a single mom from Tacoma, preparing for a two-part cranial surgery. The dinner is at Joeseppie’s Italian Ristorante, 2207 N. Pearl St., Tacoma from 2-6 p.m. Saturday. For more information call 253-906-7244.
